Probably collected by a fortunate young traveller on his grand tour of Italy. Original paper label affixed to back reads Columni de ????. Gorgeously hand painted scene of peasant women washing linens and travelers refreshing themselves and their horses at a classical water fountain in the mountainous countryside. Bordered by putti, floral swags, and seashells. Measures 24 and one half inches long by 17 inches wide by 2 and one quarter inches deep. Excellent condition.
